Lítačka cards validity is automatically prolonged by three years

Prague 1. 8. 2021 – Attention, Lítačka cards being released in 2016–2017 validity is due this year. Prague city company Operátor ICT (OICT) as the Lítačka operator along with the Prague City Hall decided to automatically prolong Lítačka cards validity by three years. Passengers, whose validity card expires this year, thus can travel around Prague and the Central-Bohemian Region for another three years.

Lítačka transport cards were released in the years 2016 and 2017 into which passengers can upload long-term coupons and travel around Prague and the Central-Bohemian Region are gradually expiring due to their validity stated on the front side of the card. In the year 2020 validity expired for about 450 thousand cards, this year 198,493 Lítačka cards are affected. The Lítačka card operator, Operátor ICT, certainly along with the Prague City Hall decided about automatic prolonging validity of initially expiring Lítačka cards by three years. „By deciding to prolong Lítačka cards validity by three years we want to be forthcoming to all passengers in the capital city and facilitate their concerns with new card errands. In addition, we will prevent any further expenses which would have been caused by new card issuing. Our aim primarily is to increase the comfort of passengers as much as possible, “ addressed Lítačka cards validity the Mayor of The Capital City of Prague Zdeněk Hřib. All Lítačka cards which are duet his year will be automatically prolonged in the operator’s database. Passengers will not have to act in any way as was the case in the past for example by inserting the card in validators that have not been in use for travelling around Prague and the Central-Bohemian region since the end of August 2018. Passengers being this year affected by the initial end of validity will be receiving information email and text messages par the contact type they stated during registration. „There are a bit more than 944,205 cards registred presently in our systém and to more than 882,025 of them, a long-term coupon is subsequently uploaded. We hope that the validity prolongation will be appreciated by passengers. Our aim is to liberalized and digitalize the check-in system in Prague as much as possible. Passengers thus can since December 2019 have the long-term coupon solely in the PID Lítačka mobile application and check-in by the use their mobile phone screen. On top of that since December 2019 all passengers can transfer coupons into the PID Lítačka mobile application where it is possible to buy a coupon contactless. This feature is used by presently by 270,405 users,“ added the city company OICT general manager Michal Fišer.
